Warm, authentic,
down-to-earth, "haimesche." These are the descriptions we often
hear of our congregation. The Talmudic sage Hillel taught: "Separate
yourself not from the community." At Temple Beth O'r/Beth Torah, we
embrace Hillel's lesson by infusing the spirit of community into all we
offer. Temple Beth O'r/Beth Torah
(TBO/BT) is Central New Jersey's most dynamic egalitarian Conservative
synagogue. Fifty years ago, Temple Beth O'r was established at 111 Valley
Road in Clark. In 1992, we merged with Temple Beth Torah of Rahway.
We remain a
remarkable, vibrant community. With 215 families from Union, Middlesex
and Somerset Counties, we offer compelling programs to meet the needs
of all of our members, young and old. Wherever our member families
reside - Clark, Colonia, Cranford, Edison, Elizabeth, Linden, Kenilworth,
Metuchen, the Plainfields, Rahway, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, Springfield,
Summit, Union, Westfield, Woodbridge, or other towns - they feel a warmth and
camaraderie that transforms a diverse array of individuals into a vibrant
community that embraces our past, celebrates our rituals, and looks forward
to a bright future imbued with spiritual enrichment. We are an affiliate of the United Synagogue of
America and share its commitment to Shabbat, Kashrut and Jewish
values. We are both a traditional and an egalitarian congregation. Indeed,
women are in the forefront of our leadership and policy-making process. Details on any aspect of our community are readily available; simply Contact Us! We invite your family to meet us, pray with us, break bread with us, and share your lives with us. Our Rabbi and Cantor and all of us at Temple Beth O'r/Beth Torah look forward to welcoming you! |
